By George Sezer

Here we go again; knives have come out after a couple of bad results. For me, it only proves how fickle some fans can be… and to be honest, it’s getting beyond boring now.

Probably I’m repeating myself but I will continue to do so until some of our fans can understand that as a fan it’s ok criticising, complaining, winging or expressing dissatisfaction about our current state. After all that’s what fans do but I just can’t stand that some of our fans seems to be happy to see us struggle to prove their point of view.

Of course there are issues with our team and there is no hiding from the fact that mistakes have been and being made at the top level but let’s discuss these problems like the best supporters in the world should do and do away with all the nastiness and name calling.

There are two main ingredients responsible for our shortcomings in recent seasons:

Bad Luck; I know it’s not a very technical analysis but a very important one. We have had nothing but bad luck with the injuries, Referees’ decisions and never seem to have the rub of the green. Take our latest game against Swansea as an example; granted, we didn’t play well but for a stupid decision by the man in the middle and a stupid mistake like conceding a STUPID goal seconds after scoring our equaliser, we would have won that game and everything would have been all cushty.

Every team has a long injury list around this time of the season but not mostly from same positions like us. It’s very difficult to compensate for the loss of all our full backs and their probable versatile replacements like Vermaelen and Coq. We can’t blame Wenger for not buying replacements as we would have surplus fullbacks when ours are back to fitness. With the 25 player squad rule, that would be a mistake.

Too many dead wood players; Almunia, Squilachi, Djourou, Arshavin, Park, Chamakh and add 2x totally injury prone Diaby and Gibbs to the list, a total of 8 useless players out of a squad of 25. That’s third of a squad and almost a whole team. This is Arsene Wenger’s fault. He should be more ruthless with getting rid of dead wood and be much better with replacing them.

Think about it, if we had better players as back-ups than the above mentioned would we be talking about Ramsey being burnt out or Walcott being off the boil? No, they would be fresh and more importantly, competition for their places would keep them on their toes.

So there Wenger haters, I have criticised him but take notice Wenger lovers, I have not asked for his head or called him a stubborn old man who’s lost the plot.

You see Gooners, it can be done.
