Greetings

From the inter-dull, a week where all good footballing teams lose their players to patriotism and hope to heaven they come back intact. I for one am looking forward to seeing England v Spain. Nothing makes me happier than the British Press finding out that their national team is shit, not because they have bad players but because they do not want to choose any of the good ones (Micah Richards). Has Fabio Capello realised that it is absolutely impossible to try and outplay Barc-I mean Spain with his current squad?

Anyway, to The Arsenal. Things have changed since I last wrote and it is not so subtle. We have started believing in our team again. It may have something to so with Robin van Persie who has scored 1263434847372 goals since the turn of the year. It may have to do with Arteta-Song-Ramsey combination now finding its feet with the latter really improving at an alarming rate. It may have to do with Gervinho and Walcott starting to use their pace to affect games. It may also have to do with Koscielny who has been “magnifique” in the last month or so. The team has started to click and like all teams, have rallied around our brilliant player and captain. What was excellent as well was the 5-3. Sigh. I have watched those highlights many, many times. I cannot help but laugh at the guilty until proven innocent racist twat of a captain fall on his ass from the worst back pass in Chelsea history. What was even funnier was Szczesny rugby tackling Cashley Cole and staying on the pitch. Funnier still was Santos’s Jekyll and Hyde form in that one game. Then came the Champions League game which I watched and really liked. I loved that we fought for it, that Rosicky got stuck in and got a yellow and that all our players were a bit nasty and defended as a team. This is how you turn a weak-willed team. I must say I have been harsh with Arsene but you can see how brilliant he is. He seemed to snatch up players willy nilly but you can see most of them coming good. I must admit to a serious man crush on Mikel Arteta (no homo), whose footballing style I like. He may have the Vitruvian man perfection in looks but he is a grafter and background player, doing the dirty work and harassing people in the mid field while letting the younger and more energetic Ramsey do the flashy stuff. I do hope he gets what he wants with us when we qualify for the next round in the Champions League and play against great opposition, a level I think he is suited to.

The next game was against WBA and I loved it. It was almost the Arsenal of old. Free flowing passing and movement from the entire team that resulted in stunning goals. An absolute beauty of a pass from Ramsey to Walcott that Cesc would be proud of, set up the first. A quality cross from Song to van Persie who squared the ball back against goal for an oncoming Vermaelen to finish for the 2nd. The third was the best of the game, a case for the pundits who say RVP would be an excellent number 10. His turn in the box and passist (pass and assist) to Arteta was Bergkamp-esque and the whole team seemed truly happy with their performance. It has been a difficult road to get to where we are now and there is still a way to go but I am truly happy for Arsenal, Arsene and his players and “We the Fans” who have been waiting to see a decent string of performances. I do hope it continues after the inter-dull and we make up ground on the top 3. Special mention goes to Carl Jenkinson who had a blinder against WBA, a player I think should try his hand at dead ball situations. He is very good at whipping quality balls in.

Cheers to you all and thanks for reading.

P.S I would be really happy if Newcastle won the League. It would be the most beautiful irony in football. ManCity billions have bought them the best squad bar none meanwhile Alan Pardew has crafted a strong hardworking side with intelligent purchases from Ligue 1 and Demba Ba, my fantasy football point machine. If not win the league then at least beat the Manchester’s over the festive season. It would be joyful.
