I came into this game without any expectations, I knew our side would look very paltry in comparison compared to the squad accrued by untold dirty oil money.

So meeting up some familiar faces in the Eaglet beforehand I felt a similar vibe as the conversations were more geared towards future away day ventures than the nights game. 2 swift pints were sunk as well as a cheeky tinnie on the plod to the ground and a sense of optimism came over me. Not in the same level as my trip to Stamford Bridge for example, but still a good one.

We arrived at our seats in the upper reaches of the Norf Bank to news the Minelli looking wanker Na$ri was starting and that Gervinho and Vermaelen were not.

And of course the usual moans about Seb and Marouane starting we're prominent by those around us.

The game kicked off and almost right away the money grabbing tool was offered a predictably hostile reception, within seconds Frimpong was right in his face and he seemed to make him know who was in charge from the very outset and that was a theme that continued throughout the match as Nasri was well marshalled.

The first half wasn't much of a spectacle and Arsenal created the best of what was on offer, Park thought as well as many thousands of those inside the ground that he had given The Arse the lead but was kept out by the Stretch Armstrong Citeh keeper Pantamillion (what a unit he is).

A wonderful chance equalled by a wonderful save, Arsenal seemed to keep having the best of the game and The OX's long range piledriver was again matched by the gargantuan opposition keeper.

Defensively we seemed very secure despite playing four centre halves tonight and dare I say it Squillachi was Like A New Signing and was making sure Wenger knew his worth of possibly being a part of our squad post January.

A half time chinwag with the boys was had over a pint and we all agreed we were the better side.

The second half was much in the same vein as the first as we seemed the better side, nothing much was created by the home side. it was a very timid second half.

But then just 8 minutes from full time the sucker punch arrived, from more Arsenal pressure and one of many corners City broke and I sat down in my seat as I could see what was about to unfold. Adam Johnson swiftly broke and squared for Aguero to cooly slot past Fabianski.

City leading a game they had barely been in. What we had in response was more and more concerted Arsenal pressure mainly in the form of the lively Gervinho.

But chances were very thin on the ground and the only real chance that opened up was Chamakh being a whisker away from connecting to a last second cross.

The whistle went not long after, a disappointing result considering how well our young side played.

A brisk wander towards Highbury tube station was interrupted by a swift pint in The Bailey for more discussion.

I would like to leave you with three thoughts to perk yourselves up after this defeat.

1) How well the side played considering how overmatched they were in price, wages and in most cases, talent and Restricting a team assembled out of all of those riches to ONE shot on target.

2) Koscielny having another wonderful game against two outstanding strikers in Aguero and Dzeko.

3) Nasri leaving us to become a Carling Cup player, going missing in the second half and for being a massive money grabbing twat.

Until next time Gooners...
