Yet another setback for the Gooners in a manner to go with this season’s trend of ‘how not the win the Premiership’ or ‘how to make the last fuck up look not so bad’.

Firstly I have to say that I don’t agree with the many shouts coming from the gooner community that we dropped points and probably won’t win the league because of the well documented deficiencies this team has. It’s not as though these problems have just appeared. We have had them from the beginning of the season and after the January transfer window once Mr Wenger never addressed them but have been in a position to win this league until today, such as the nature of the season we are having.

Would we be talking about how this team can’t defend a lead, don’t have natural leaders, players don’t have fighting spirit… etc., if today’s ref blew the whistle after they took their free kick in the 101st minute which was already 3 minutes over the indicated added time of 8 minutes?

I know, I can hear people moaning that these things even their selves out during the course of the season and always the referee we give as an excuse and it’s the usual talk that AW gives after a disappointment…  I am one of Wenger’s fiercest critics but how can you legislate for what Mr Dowd done to us against Newcastle and conceding a goal in the 102nd minute of a game from a dubious penalty decision to hand the title to the Manure. These are extremely unusual situations that we lost points, not the usual ‘even their selves up’ types. 4 points might have made all the difference.

Ok, we weren’t at our irresistible best today but I thought we were alright; created more chances and had more of the position against a rejuvenated Liverpool team who had come to defend in numbers. The stats of; Shots 16-10 On target 5-4 Fouls 12-12 Duels Won 50%-50% Passing Accuracy 83%-72% Possession 62%-38% shows that we had fought hard too. At this stage of the season it’s unfair to expect our team to steam roll opponents.

Not for one minute should you think that I am happy with the situation our team is in and I fully acknowledge the fact that this was the season of opportunity to end our trophy drought but this is the situation we find ourselves in and I think the boys are doing really well for the squad we have. I could even go as far as to say that they are over achieving.

Just to brighten up the mood a little, I leave you with a brilliant tweet from uglyfatmidget : Every girl wants to date Gunners because they've never known guys who are on top for 90 mins and still couldn't come first!
